Unveiled today, The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club, an equity-based, luxury destination club, and Hall of Fame golfer, Annika Sorenstam, have entered a new partnership where Annika will serve as an ambassador for the brand. For the benefit of Club Members, this partnership presents the opportunity for elite experiences that mirror Annika’s passions and growing lifestyle brand.

As part of the exclusive partnership, The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club will create an “ANNIKA sense of place” at Club locations with branded products including everything from signature clothing and fragrances, to wines and autographed photography. The leading trade publication for the shared ownership industry recently launched a new version dedicated to the North American marketplace in Las Vegas.

Tapestry Resorts, the newly branded hospitality management division of ResortCom International, has announced Kerry Stebbins as its new director of business development.

Stebbins brings over 30 years in the vacation exchange, hospitality, travel and vacation ownership industries to Tapestry Resorts. SkiStar Vacation Club’s First Resort At Sälen Joins The RCI Network Of Affiliated Resorts

RCI today announced that SkiStar, one of the Nordic region’s strongest hospitality brands, has affiliated two of its resorts – SkiStar Vacation Club Fjällhotell and SkiStar Vacation Club Snötorget – with RCI, the worldwide leader in vacation exchange.

The resorts are located in the popular Swedish ski area of Sälen, which offers some of the country’s best skiing and snowboarding and is best-known for hosting the start of Vasaloppet, the world’s oldest, longest and largest cross-country ski race, which regularly attracts more than 15,000 participants.

Sälen is also home to Experium, Sweden’s newest leisure complex, featuring a number of indoor and outdoor swimming pools including an adventure pool offering indoor surfing and wave effects. Tweeting, texting, blogging – RCI recognizes that consumers have a legitimate vacation planning tool in the palm of their hand with the new applications that will help enhance the trip planning process and allow users to share vacation experiences with their social networks.

Following the earlier announcement of its plan to launch its innovative RCI Points Platinumsm membership tier, RCI unveiled the newest of its cutting-edge technology initiatives during the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) 2010 Convention and Exposition in Las Vegas. Marking its debut into the mobile marketing world, RCI launched the RCI TV application for the iPhone and iPod® touch, currently available through the Apple® store.

Through this portable version of RCI TV, which is currently available to the general public on RCI.com, users can view a list of featured Destination Channel videos. The application lists all videos with a small thumbnail image, video title and video length in the application navigation. Once users view the video, they can email the video link to a friend or save it for themselves. RCI plans to provide additional functionality and more videos for download in future releases.

timeline or map display. At any time during or after the vacation, the user can share their vacation memories with friends or log into the RCI SnapBook portal and add additional assets.

These latest innovations follow the recent launch of RCI’s YouTube site. Launched in January 2010, the RCI YouTube channel contains over 50 quality resort videos from RCI TV that showcase RCI affiliated properties around the world.

From this site, visitors can link directly to RCI.com and even back to the affiliated resort to view rich video content on the resort they are interested in along with information that further educates the public on the benefits of vacation ownership.

RCI also announced that it will introduce RCI Points Platinum, a new tier of membership and the latest enhancement to its successful RCI Points® program that will offer premium exchange and lifestyle benefits to members.

Pestana Hotels and Resorts pioneered mixed-use (hotel and timeshare operation working together in one property) in Europe when it launched timeshare with 150 rooms at its Carlton Madeira Hotel in Portugal in 1985. Today Pestana welcomes an average of 1,500 new owner families each year. RCI will be celebrating the exact date of their 25th anniversary with Pestana at ARDA and will be marking the occasion with a special presentation at the event.

Resort Properties’ Palm Beach Club in Tenerife was opened 25 years ago when the resort earned the distinction of becoming the fastest-selling timeshare resort in the world. CLC was founded with the purchase of 10 apartments at Las Farolas on the Costa del Sol and it now has sales operations in the UK, Spain, Tenerife, Turkey and Portugal conducting close to 100,000 sales presentations annually.

CLC is an innovator, launching a yacht club in 2006, and its first foray into the Turkish market, Apollonium Club La Costa Spa & Beach Resort, will be the company’s 18th affiliation with RCI. Five resorts in Mexico, the Caribbean and the Pacific Coast join the world’s largest vacation exchange network

RCI, the global leader in vacation exchange and Fiesta Hotel Group, one of the leading hotel chains in Spain, today announced a new affiliation agreement that welcomes five properties from the Grand Palladium Travel Club to RCI’s global network.

As part of this new affiliation, Grand Palladium Travel Club members will be able to exchange into RCI’s network of more than 4,000 affiliated resorts, and RCI’s 3.8 million subscribing members will be able to enjoy unique vacation experiences at Palladium Vallarta Resort and Spa; Grand Palladium Colonial Resort and Spa; Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort and Spa; Grand Palladium Riviera Resort and Spa; and Grand Palladium White Sand Resort and Spa, all located in the Riviera Maya near Cancun.

Latin American Vacation Ownership Industry: Positive Signs In Difficult Times

With Brazil and Venezuela recording double-digit growth in interval sales in 2009 mainly due to their sales in the domestic market, Latin America showed signs of strength and continued to attract new players to its vacation ownership industry.

According to RCI’s “Executive Summary” of the Latin American and Caribbean Vacation Ownership Fact Book, 61 new vacation resorts joined the region’s vacation exchange system in 2009, and Latin America closed the year with a total of more than 1,200 affiliated resorts.

In its Executive Summary, RCI also notes that 97 percent of interval sales in Brazil – which totaled more than 14,300 weeks – were done by domestic buyers. Results from Venezuela indicate that Venezuelans purchased 99 percent of the 12,700 weeks sold in the country. With these and other data gathered by RCI in the region, estimated sales of vacation weeks in Latin American totaled 212,316 intervals, a 12 percent decline from the previous year.

RCI’s Executive Summary also indicates that despite the tough economic environment of the previous year, some other markets showed promising growth signs. In Costa Rica, for example, several luxury projects were started in the country’s most popular beach destinations with some of them slated to open this year. In Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia, new timeshare players came into the industry and introduced new resorts – ranging from standard quality to luxury developments – to the vacation ownership market.

Notwithstanding the challenging times faced by the Mexican tourism industry, one of the biggest regions affected by the influenza outbreak, Mexico topped the list of new affiliations with 22 resorts, followed by the Caribbean with 16 and Brazil with seven.

Other significant data about the vacation ownership market in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2009 is highlighted by RCI, the global leader in vacation exchange, in its Executive Summary presented at the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) 2010 Convention and Exposition. The Executive Summary, a highly-regarded industry publication, documents the performance of the industry during the last year and puts into perspective future trends by analyzing market information from the World Tourism Organization, the Tourism Ministries, affiliates in the region, and the International Monetary Fund.

The Executive Summary is a well-received document within the regional vacation ownership industry and is part of a broader RCI endeavor: The 2010 Latin America and the Caribbean Vacation Ownership Fact Book will be presented later this year.
