If the world property market could be considered a heart and was connected to a hospital EKG machine, most doctors would declare that the market has flat lined. Women In The Industry (WIN) Online Philanthropy Auction Doubles Its Goals

Women in the Industry (WIN), an organization professionally supporting and cultivating women leaders of tomorrow in the vacation industry, has announced the results from its first online auction to support its philanthropic initiatives.

Co-President Cathy Backus says “the auction garnered over $10,000 to fund our 2010 philanthropy projects.  The funds will be used in part to support Girls Inc. ‘Collegeship’ fund and will send four girls and two counselors to visit out-of-state colleges this spring.  Our second major philanthropic efforts are directed toward Gal to Gal Foundation which supports those battling Fourth Stage Breast Cancer.  Because of the generous contributions of our sponsors and those who bid on vacation weeks, three women and their families will have the opportunity to enjoy quality time by going on vacation!”

Sol Meliá and LRA Worldwide Launch Global Brand Assurance Program

Sol Meliá, the 15th-largest hotel chain in the world and the leading Spanish hotel and resort company, has launched a comprehensive brand assurance evaluation  program across its global portfolio of hotel and resort brands.  To execute the program, Sol Meliá has partnered with LRA Worldwide, Inc., a leading firm in the design and development of performance measurement and quality assurance programs for the hospitality and lodging industries.

The brand assurance program is a crucial part of Sol Meliá’s “brand equity” strategy for all of its various brands.  The process began with a series of brand “boot camps” facilitated by LRA to help further define each brand and how that offering is delivered at the property level.  The evaluation program is designed to measure the effectiveness of the implementation process and delivery of a “branded” guest experience at each property.

Grand Lodges Mount Hood Chooses To Affiliate Its Fractional Ski-In, Ski-Out Resort With Interval International

Tucked into Oregon’s majestic Cascade Mountain Range a few miles from Mt. Hood, this new fractional resort offers four seasons of recreation, including year-round downhill and cross-country skiing.

A proposed aerial tramway connecting the three ski areas promises to further expand ski-in options.

With panoramic views of Multorpor Mountain, Mt. Travelocity Recognizes Green Key Global Membership in Green Hotel Directory

Green Key Global, the exclusive provider of the Green Key Eco-Rating Program (“Green Key”), and Travelocity have partnered to recognize “green” hotels and resorts. Travelocity, the popular online travel website, will include Green Key members in its Green Hotel Directory; likewise, those hotels will also be tagged with an “Eco Friendly Hotel” symbol within Travelocity’s hotel shopping path.

Green Key, the first program of its kind to rank, certify and audit hotels and resorts based on their commitment to sustainable “green” operations, is a joint venture between LRA Worldwide, Inc. and the Hotel Association of Canada. Green Key has been in operation in Canada for more than ten years; it launched in the United States in September of 2009. Currently, Green Key has more than 1,200 member hotels throughout the United States and Canada.

The Green Key evaluation itself is a comprehensive 140-question audit that is self-administered by the staff at the participating property. The audit covers the following operational areas and sustainable practices:
