The upcoming timeshare and fractional ownership business conference in London, aptly named The FORUM (9-10 December 2009), will take on a series of debates between panel experts and the audience of 200 industry professionals.

One of the main questions this year has been the rapid increase in positive media focus around fractional ownership products, in particular property related. Andrew joined Hertfordshire based LSI in 1989 and became Group General Manager in 1991. LSI expanded rapidly throughout the 1990’s and was purchased by Signature Resorts in 1997. Signature Resorts became Sunterra Resorts and Andrew became part of the Global Management Team with a position of Vice President or Information Technology and spent 5 years travelling extensively between the UK and the USA with regular trips to Orlando and Las Vegas. Andrew was also responsible for Resort Inventory and Yield Management.

Andrew left Sunterra in 2005 and joined Club La Costa as UK Operations Director. After a year with Club La Costa Andrew joined Petchey Leisure as Group Operations Director with the challenge of integrating the Spanish and Portuguese Resorts and Operations. Andrew has specialised streamlining Business Practices using Integrated IT Systems and has spoken on IT Systems at both OTE and ARDA Conferences.

Jerry Cobb To Join Panel Of Experts At The FORUM Conference In London

Born in th UK, but brought up and educated in Guernsey, Channel Islands, Jerry began his career in finance and fiduciary work with National Westminster Guernsey Trust Company.

Transferring to a major independent trust company in Guernsey, he was responsible, in the late 1980′s for setting up and running offices in Portugal and Spain.

A career break back in Guernsey eventually lead to Jerry taking up a post in 2001 as Director of Southern Europe Operations for Marlborough Trust Company, a company with solid and direct links to many top European tax and legal advisors.

It was through Marlborough that his involvement with fractional ownership began with a large and well established resort in the Western Algarve that has successfully implemented fractional ownership of property for the last 5 years.

Now teamed up with marketing and finance professionals and with Marlborough Trust providing all company administration and legal support, Jerry is heavily involved with expanding the use of fractional throughout the Iberian peninsula and elsewhere in the world, with a number of resorts already signed up to use his “OwnerShare” system.

With offshoots of FOC Marketing and FOC Finance, Jerry feels that the Fractional Ownership Consultancy can offer a complete and all round package to developers who want to fractionalize their properties and maximize profits.

On a personal note, Jerry is married with two teenage children and lives in Sotogrande on the Costa del Sol, Spain. When he is not working, Jerry is either on the gold course or fishing off the coast of North Africa for the elusive tuna!

Howard C. Nusbaum Confirmed As Panelist At Upcoming Timeshare & Fractional Event In London

Howard C. Nusbaum is currently the president and chief executive officer of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), the Washington D.C.-based professional association representing the vacation ownership and resort development industries.

Prior to joining ARDA in 2000, Nusbaum served as director of Corporate and Industry Relations for the American Hotel & Lodging Association as well as executive vice president of the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association. Before joining the world of hotel association management in 1990, he was vice president of marketing for Janus Hotels and Resorts, a hotel management company with more than 50 hotels and motels nationwide.

Nusbaum is a past board member of the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. He received the Educational Institute’s “Lamp of Knowledge” for his development of hospitality training programs. Additional honors include being twice named (1995 and 1997) The Ohio Vocational Education Association “Person of the Year” for his work developing a curriculum for secondary school hospitality students. He received national recognition for his development of the very successful HOST Welfare-to-Work Program.

He serves on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Travel Association and its Executive Committee. He previously served on the Board of the Travel Business Roundtable.

He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. Post collegiate education includes the respected Institute for Organization Management, a six-year program for association executives held at the University of Notre Dame. Nusbaum served his state hotel association executives as chairman of the International Society of Hotel Association Executives (ISHAE).

Pete Jones has worked in the shared ownership industry for over 15 years. Having gained an honors degree in Economics and Accounting from Leeds University in England, he saw the light, left accounting and ventured into the world of sales and marketing at Eastman Kodak where he held area management responsibility for the Digital Imaging Division.

He left in the late 80’s to join a start up venture, specializing in the rapidly growing arena of software productivity. It was here he met his current business partner Steve Pentland and together they built up and sold the software company to a US venture and Pete stayed on and ran the sales operation and 3rd party distribution channels.

Pete then joined Group Impact [formerly AVTV] founded by Steve Pentland and led the change from their origins as a Film Production Company to a full services Marketing Agency, winning over 50 awards at ARDA for their work, Group Impact became recognized leaders in providing solutions that helped increase sales results for shared ownership developers around the world.

This led to the formation and building of Generator Systems, the world’s first truly interactive networked sales system, which is revolutionizing the way shared ownership products are being sold. Steve started the forerunner of Generator Systems back in 1990, after an illustrious career in IT sales and marketing during the 1980’s and before that a six year misguided notion of wanting to become an accountant. The financial, technical, sales and marketing experience all proved to be a strong foundation for the success that has been built over the last twenty years. With Pete Jones, Steve’s vision has been responsible for many of the innovations in sales and marketing that our industry successfully uses today and his willingness to challenge tradition and convention has often led to new solutions to issues that have long affected all of our businesses.

Steve also gives his time and business intellect to such public roles as Chairing the University of Northampton’s Entrepreneurs Club, board and committee positions with ARDA, Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited, the Prince’s Trust and East Midlands Enterprise.

Living in Northamptonshire with Lyn, Steve has four children and one grandchild, spends his spare time when not flying round the world on business, passionately watching Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club, cheering on his (very) local Brawn F1 team, active involvement in his church and making time for family activities.

Brett Archibald To Join Panel Of Experts At The FORUM Conference In London

We are pleased to confirm that Brett Archibald will be joining our group of industry experts at The FORUM on 9-10 December in London.

Brett Archibald was appointed SVP Business Development, Group RCI in September 2007 and is based in London, England. He has responsibility for a team of 90 people growing existing business, securing new entrants in the market place and creating strategic TORE relationships across Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.

The previous 5 years to this Mr Archibald ran his own travel company – VEA, based in Johannesburg, South Africa and also spent a year working for RCI in Hong Kong.

From 2000 to 2002 he held the position of Managing Director of RCI Europe and he has also worked at the Tourvest Group (South Africa’s largest travel and tourism group) as Director – Global Business Development and E-Commerce.

Before joining Tourvest, Mr Archibald was on the board of RCI Southern Africa where his role was that of Group Development Director.

In addition to the above, Mr Archibald has held the role of marketing director of a successful leisure property development and timeshare company – the Wall Hollard Group, and served four years articles with Ernst and Young.

He holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree through the University of South Africa, an International Marketing Management Diploma and has completed an Executive Development Programme through the University of Southern Africa in conjunction with the University of Southern Queensland.

Mr Archibald was schooled in Natal, South Africa and is a keen sportsman, having run the Comrades Marathon and the Two Oceans Marathon. Clifton has spent almost three decades in the shared ownership industry, over 15 of these as a developer, marketer and property manager of mixed-use timeshare properties while always focusing on brand-building and member satisfaction. During his career he has played an active role in all aspects of timeshare development including resort design, construction, project and consumer financing, sales and marketing, systems development and managing the completed resorts. He also has extensive experience in shared ownership, club programme design, setting up back-room servicing operations, assisting governments in drafting and adopting prudent regulations for the industry and establishing and participating in industry trade associations.

Previously, Clifton was Executive Director of Hilton Grand Vacations Company, where he had overall responsibility for sales and marketing and profitability for Hilton’s initial entry into the timeshare industry in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to that, he was Managing General Partner of Welk Park North and responsible for all aspects of the timeshare operation in California and Hawaii.

Clifton has been a committed member of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and sat on WTTC’s China Steering Committee. This Committee and WTTC focused on analyzing the current state of the tourism industry in China and provides the Chinese government, business leaders and the media with detailed recommendations on how their country can take full advantage of its tourism potential. Clifton is also an active participant in the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) and is a frequent speaker at hotel, timeshare and tourism conferences throughout the world.

Clifton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Masters in Business Administration from San José State University in San José, California. He is based in Dubai.

Richard McIntosh studied Hotel Management at Napier College in Edinburgh before joining Comfort Hotels in London and Holland, and then spend 4 years as Deputy GM at a golf and country club in Exeter.

Returning to Scotland in 1985 Richard was introduced to timeshare, becoming Country Club Manager and Marketing Manager at Craigendarroch, before joining the timeshare sales team full time in 1987..

Positions of Timeshare Sales Manager and then Hotel and Resort General Manager followed at Craigendarroch before being appointed Managing Director for the groups business in 1996 prior to the Hilton acquisition in 1999.

Charged now with operating the Hilton Grand Vacations business across Europe & Middle East, Richard is actively working to grow the flags on the map, from the existing three resorts in Scotland and one in Portugal.

Having served on the Communications Council and the Timeshare Council, Richard is the current Chairman of the Resort Development Organisation.
